Many of our enlightened readers know Tarasha Jones of New York'’s Hot 97 as the sophomoric DJ who aired a song that made light of the recent Tsunami in South East Asia. Giving her any coverage for this blunder, alone, would be disrespectful to the thousands of people that were displaced by the natural disaster. However, her decision to play “We Fall Down, but We Get Up” (a gospel song by Donnie McClurkin) following her 'on air' apology is about as disingenuous as the republican party’s recent budget proposal. As such, she’s our newest addition to the list.
C’mon- Donnie McClurkin??
You made a joke abou
t one of the largest natural disasters in the
history of the modern world and you expect us to welcome you back
because you played a Donnie McClurkin song? I mean, isn’t he the guy that claims that homosexuality can be overcome through prayer (as if homosexuality is a bad thing- see Keith Boykin's excellent article on the topic) . "Miss Jones" we’re smarter than you.
Apology not accepted.
